is pleased to present...
An Members-Only evening of wine and mingling at the Inglis Mansion
The Inglis House is a University owned mansion estate overlooking the Arb. It was built in 1929 by industrialist James Inglis and willed to the University of Michigan in 1951. It is now used primarily to host overnight visits from distinguished guests such as former President Gerald Ford and the Dalai Lama. The 10,000 square foot home sits on 8 acres and is also a unique venue for special University receptions, typcially scheduled by the office of Mary Sue Coleman. Former University President James Duderstadt and his wife Anne undertook a restoration of the house in the early 1990s. They had the house refinished and completely redecorated with period furniture, drapes and art from the art museum. This exclusive visit to the estate will offer a rare opportunity to mingle with leaders of the Ross alumni community.
A guided tour of the formal gardens and grounds will be available, weather permitting. The site manager will also give an overview of the property history and current uses.
